[Meet the Doctor's Woo]

Dr. Lisa Woo

A Heights resident since 1999, Dr. Lisa Woo opened her practice in 2003 along the Heights19th Street thoroughfare--a prime location for any Houston business and ideal for her growing endeavor. "It is a luxury" she says, "living only a few blocks away from 'the office' and enjoying the benefits of a small town, while in the heart of this huge city!" And though the paved road from her home to work is now only a few blocks from start to finish, the path that lead her to this place-in-time simply cannot be measured by miles alone.

Originally from Saigon, Vietnam, Lisa spent her high school years in Dallas, Texas, where her family owns and operates a sushi restaurant. Once the elation of her high school graduation wore thin, she pointed her car in the direction of a burnt-orange sunset--heading south-by-south-west to the University of Texas at Austin. While at UT, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Microbiology.

Immediately following graduation, Dr. Woo started her graduate education at the University of Houston, College of Optometry, in Houston, Texas. She continued her training at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico and the U.S. Army Hospital in Wurzbur, Germany.

And thus, along a path that began in a foreign land and spanned an ocean of opportunity that headed through Big D and along-side BEVO,  Lisa's efforts culminated in the attainment of her professional degree, Doctor of Optometry, in May 2000.  Since 2003, the past couple of years have brought an abundance of change to the Woo household. Lisa, and her husband, Dr. Stanley Woo, celebrated the birth of their first child, Kate, in late 2004. Well, their first child other than their beloved 4-legged friend--"Oz".
